It’s 3 am, do I really need to call my attending?

Considering travel and distancing restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are replacing our usual in-person all-day simulation extravaganza with a 2 hour fast-paced video conference.   Our educational program will be based on the ORL Emergencies Boot Camp session called “It’s 3 am, do I really need to call my attending?”  This interactive session features images, polling questions, and panels of experts addressing a series of consult questions that novice ORL residents might get in the middle of the night. Many of the consults are true emergencies, but some are not. The objective is for junior residents to recognize emergencies and provide them with strategies to start managing emergencies before other help arrives.

The video conference will take place on Saturday, July 11, from 10 am to noon Eastern time with 4 panels lasting 30 minutes each:

  • Otology/Rhinology/Laryngology

  • Pediatrics

  • Head and Neck

  • Facial Plastics/Reconstruction

The video-conference format allows us to invite junior residents from all US otolaryngology programs. There is no charge for participation.
